As a progressive and perpetually evolving business, the company had numerous new applications due to come online this year, and the number of application changes were constantly increasing due to the introduction of agile development methodology.

Operational costs were soaring and operations were unable to scale to these increased demands - causing a bottleneck detrimental to the company's profits and reputation.

THE PROCESS

The company decided to set up a proof of concept (POC) with Nolio, focusing on two complex deployment processes, JBoss Services Deployment and OSB Deployment. Applications within these processes required complex orchestration between various components including OSB Server, Weblogic Server, Hudson and Serena Dimensions. Both processes were manual and thereby required the valuable time of highly trained employees. A skilled employee took 30 minutes to complete the JBoss Services Deployment, and 90 minutes for OSB Deployment.

Nolio automated these processes across multiple tiers and in various environments, including development, QA, SIT, staging and production. This significantly reduced the execution time and the cost of manual labor while simultaneously increasing throughput. Release times for JBoss Services Deployment processes were reduced from 30 minutes to two minutes and OSB Deployment went from 90 minutes to three minutes.
